A bit about me
As a Graphic Designer I am enthusiastic to tackle any challenge and am interested in creating engaging work that utilizes a variety of materials and techniques. I have a particular passion for Motion Graphics and film, so where I can, I try to incorporate these into my work. With every new project, I push to try something different whilst using previous work as a strong backbone to any new ideas I have.
I have an interest in combining hand made work with on screen graphics. This is particularly evident in a piece of motion graphics I produced for an ISTD brief, which involved the use of layered stop animation over complicated on screen 3D environments. Also, though I have a love for motion graphics, I have found it very important to continue expanding my knowledge of print design. Many of the skills utilized for producing aesthetically pleasing print can be used in motion graphics, and visa versa. Rather than pigeon hole myself I like to keep a broad spectrum of options available to myself when tackling a brief.
Thanks to my involvement with Graphic Design I have had the opportunity to design a number of posters and flyers for various events, websites, pieces of motion graphics and magazine articles. During my first year I produced the entire layout for a 24-page third year fashion tabloid, of which 2000 copies were printed and distributed around a number of Nottingham fashion shops (including the prestigious Paul Smith), bars and the college. In my second year I took up the challenge to film the ski society during a trip to Val Thorens, plus some other events and produced a half-hour DVD including all the editing, motion graphics, case design, extras and anything else involved with the project. I have also done book cover work for Old House Books, which have gone into print, dramatically improving sales. Since September 2009 I have been working with C-Hab to launch their brand, which aims to reach all areas of the creative industries via theHub, an online design magazine. We are also aiming to put this into print soon and I have spent much time updating the brand, working on layouts and generally doing anything that comes my way.
